The Travellers Tale
Sword and Board, Plate
The irony of her name can only be found when you witness her fight on the battlefield., for Freya Skjöldur is no goddess of love. Raised in the tribal areas of North-West Middengard, he skill with a blade and shield was quickly noticed and developed from a young age. As a young girl, Freya always had one eye on the rest of the world, to the Elders of her tribes dismay. After years in the cold snow and rain, her coming of age arrived and so Freya was sent in to the snowy hills, sent to bring back the Horn of Balgruuf, the tribes legendary fighter. A challenge designed to test a young students tracking and prowess with their weapon of choice, the trial went horribly wrong and Freya and her fellow competitors got caught in a blizzard. Thought Freya found the Horn, she was ambushed by a Yeti, Grimmur, The Terror of the North. Freya was freezing, her senses dulled and Grimmur was ferocious in his attacks. What was said to be the invincible beast in its last moments leaped onto Freya’s face, gouging out her eyes as she bashed the monster town and cut of its head. Now blind and lost in the blizzard, she cried out for help, but upon realizing that no one would come, she collapsed into the snow from blood loss.
When she woke, the blizzard had cleared and through her superior tracking skills, was able to retrace her steps back to the village through feeling the snow and gaining her direction. The only one to survive the trial, Freya stumbled into her village, carrying the head of Grimmur and the Horn of Balgruuf. The Elders, heavily impressed, titled her Freya, the True Terror of the North and were able to harness the magic of the earth, imbuing a blindfold with the vision of the earth, restoring her vision, but not its colour, permanently seeing in hazy black and white. Thought grateful for the Elders help, Freya knew it was time to move on and left the tribe, wandering through the snows once more, heading south, looking to prove herself to the rest of the known world, whoever they may be.
